In your experience, how effective are ignition kill switches? Still hear of vehicles with these still being stolen because the more clever thieves will look for them? One question I'd have with them is are they still viable if the car is actually fired up via remote start from a key fob. At that...
Ya I believe my mother in law has an Escape with the 1.6, seems far too underpowered. Hers is FWD, and it barely tries to torque steer. Same as Gagliano though, my wife used to have a 2018 Escape with the bigger ecoboost, and I loved the power. AWD and what felt like a meaty powerband (until you...
Oh ok, so they're still doing the torquey cams on the newer F150s. I didn't know they were using a different intake manifold too. Good info. Pretty nice that y'all have forged crank and rods too. Makes me wonder if the 2024 refresh 5.0s will get the dual throttle body setup that the mustang...
With any of the aftermarket tunes, the last way I’d describe the shifting is smooth lol. It would break the tires loose on the 1-2 shift if you were hammering it. With the stock tune, ya it was smooth, but so annoyingly indecisive. If you were turning right onto a faster speed road, and gave it...
Do all of those changes apply to the f150 version too? You gen3 guys are able to rev up to 7500 like the Mustangs?!? Or is it same internals but a software limiters on RPMs?
I know with mine it had a different intake or exhaust camshaft, different exhaust manifold, and i believe more piston cooling.
Dang, sorry to hear about that. Hopefully this is isolated down to a bad component, and not some hidden gremlin in the gen3 coyote.
For what it's worth to any other Coyote owners that are now worried, I just went over 200k miles on mine and the engine is still strong. Only engine related issue...
I'm not sure. The 7.3 (and 6.8 im assuming) are cast iron blocks with aluminum heads. I assumed these aluminum-blocked 6.8 rumors implied it'd be an all aluminum engine like the coyote and 5.2.
Even the 6.7 Powerstroke since 2011 has been graphite-iron block with aluminum heads. so if there...
Ford Performance Parts lists the Godzilla crate at 580lbs, and I've found some sources saying the Predator weighs around 530lbs. Obviously that's the Godzilla weight without a supercharger and the related accessories to that. But maybe that adds 100lbs. So it's about 150lbs more. Not ideal...
I never understood why they chose the Predator in the Raptor R. I mean I understand, since it was already developed. But people seem to say the 7.3 is extremely robust internally, and can easily handle boost. Why not strap the s/c on that and easily surpass the 700/640 rating of the R
As much as I'd want it, I think we all know Ford never would. I think I'd much rather have a Powerboost Coyote option. Give us choices, I want 7.2kw pro-power and that simpler/sweet sounding 5.0
From what I've read, the Boss 302 intake manifold is no longer the way to go, whether you're talking Mustang or F150. Although it's probably cheapest. The GT350 Manifold is slightly better than Boss, and the new Cobra Jet is better than both. But apparently the 2018 GT manifold is best of them...
I agree with a lot of your statements about Ford, but first I just have to nit pick with the paint and aluminum thing. That clearly is not bare aluminum, and the coverage looks plenty fine. Even the rivets are fully coated. And also, aluminum is much more corrosion-resistant than steel. So among...
