My wife hit a deer in her MME last week and she got a 2025 XLT as a rental. The lack of the persistent current gear display compared to my 2022 quickly annoyed me. I’ve had a persistent current gear display on my last three Fords, I’m annoyed by the removal, and I hope Ford eventually reverse...
Mine would be an ordering change. Allow me to order any of the three transfer cases, two front diffs, or rear axle choices on any trim level. I’d like to be able to for example option an XL/STX/XLT truck but with the hi lock transfer case and Torsen front, so I can not feel like a crazy man...
So far I’ve had the pre-collision assist Christmas tree light dash of doom be triggered by:
- Bugs.
- A very specific kind of light rain.
- A car wash. Not the water inside the car wash, but somehow the dark maw of the car wash itself, before it had started.
- The sun being in its “eye.” This...
Unfortunately this is Ford caving and following others, 40-60% of new vehicles lack a spare tire (depending on the source cited). GM has been omitting them on smaller vehicles since at least 2011 ish. It’s an obnoxious industry trend that manufacturers like to blame on CAFE but (like flimsy...
There was a shortage of parts during mid-2022, so Ford temporarily deleted it from everything from 501A down. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/connected-navigation-and-siriusxm-force-removal.10756/
Amusingly, I once drove a rental KIA that still had manual windows but had Sirius due to a...
I annoyingly got bit by the SiriusXM/Nav factory delete. SiriusXM’s app via CarPlay works, but about 25% of the time the app needs to be restarted before it’ll play music. I had selected the start/stop delete so I wasn’t upset when that one became a mandatory delete.
Frustratingly the 500A is no more. I got mine with bench seats, something I wanted along with 4A and the 2.7, and which led me to the Lariat 500A...now neither bench seats or the 2.7 are options for a Lariat. Ford recently said they’re going to ramp up lower cost production, I hope that...
Hmm… The Middle East Tremor getting the TOD/4A is interesting, as you can pretty much be assured it will be taken off road, and so that tends to suggest a heat concern isn’t the explanation. The fact that the TOD/4A and Hi-Lock are available at all tends to suggest it’s not an export control...
Do you have access to like a sales link, brochure, or whatever window sticker equivalent is locally provided? I’d be curious if we can’t parse out what’s going on.
(Speculation)
My guess is the batteries are failing due to an internal short if they’re saying “suddenly fail,” and they aren’t just failing due to premature aging. The fact that the recall notice mentions a loss of drive power tends to suggest that too, as a shorted battery wouldn’t necessarily...
Plug in hybrid with the 2.7L engine and propower.
But really I’d just be happy if the 500a package I got in 2022 came back, along with the door keypad. Barring that, I would like to see a choice of transfer case and front differential across the line, not restricted by trim. They aren’t...
The 2.7 hasn’t had an enormous number of cam phaser issues. Some scattered ones, but not like the 3.5. As far as I’m aware, Ford doesn’t even offer a kit like they do with the 3.5, you’ve got to order the parts piecemeal, as it’s just nowhere near as common. Jumping to a 3.5 wouldn’t be any more...
Out of curiosity, did they say they also balanced the one they didn’t replace? Are there any spots where it looks like stick on balance weights may have detached?
