There’s never truly 450 lbs on the gate. The moment (pun) you tip it, the majority is on you, a bit still on the gate. Prior, 50% at best.

There are side, corner warning sensors that will go off if it thinks you are to close to an object. I’m not talking about the rear camera distance sensor. You can go into vehicle settings and turn this off if you want.
