I removed my tailgate in order to load a heavy woodstove the other day. Mechanically the tailgate lifts off just like my 2004 F150 tailgate, very easy, but the real challenge is to disconnect 4 wiring connectors without breaking them! Has anyone found an easier way to handle the wiring...
Thanks! Good to know! I will go bigger when I need to replace. I noticed when I first got the truck and was sitting in the driveway with it "ON" but not running, that the battery ran down pretty quickly.
I like seeing how high I can get my mileage when I have the time to go a bit slower. I recently took a 140 mile each way weekend trip and averaged 31.2 mpg on the way there, and 28.1 mpg on the way back. I had about a 10 mph tail wind going and very little wind on the way home. 3.31, 4x4, 87...
At the last oil change I removed the plate, and used a jig saw to cut off the back half towards the oil plug, and reattached so that it holds the fabric piece in front. I will never put a rock guard on so the back half only got in the way when changing the oil which I do myself.
2022 F150 XLT - Anyone know the purpose of this extra metal piece held on with 2 bolts to the cross member, below the oil pan drain plug? It has two metal clips toward the back that make me think another plate could be bolted one, but this is the way my came. It seems like it was removed it...
I went with the XLT because I wanted the column shifter and the work surface. The column shifter frees up precious space on the console when using the work surface or not. I'm not sure what the advantage is of the console shifter but I guess that's why they make more than vanilla ice cream!
I priced an XLT Super Cab in March, 2022 and now with the current 2023 pricing. The price for the same truck increased 5.8%. Is this increase about what others are finding on average? This is in less than 5 months. Maybe they are raising MSRP pricing so they have some room to discount them...
I'm looking for information on how Ford's VDE deactivates the valves in the 5.0L F150? The only Ford VDE information I've found is for a 1.5L Ecoboost 3 cylinder engine. It looks like they use oil pressure to somehow deactivate the valves. Thanks
