New phasers implemented on 2021 MY 3.5 Very few issues reported since the change. Many reporting over 100k miles without issues. Time will tell on larger cross section but so far so good.

If filling is at all a possibility I would look into it before replacing. I had a decent one just off my line of sight and did it myself. I suspect glass repair place might save you some cash over replacement

From everything I’ve read, seen and heard about cam phaser rattle if it’s not making the noise at start up it’s likely not the cam phasers causing your noise.

Do you have a model with a second battery under the rear seat? If you do as soon as you put this battery in it’s going to be charging the under seat battery impacting its own charge state

Did you thoroughly clean the rubber gasket prior to applying the lubricant. At least once a year I wipe mine down all around with a cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove all the grime, apply a coat of wax to the painted surfaces where the gasket contacts and lubricate the gasket. Seems to keep it...

Mine was the same. Several modules needed updating to get to the point of installing the back up software. Altogether it was about 4hrs
