Yes, they are 2 completely different things. I understand that. My son said it was a recall that just came down and would get the information for me tomorrow when he is in the shop. He knows I have been watching for it, since I have had both rear axle bolts break and they replaced them on my...
Ok. I’ll ask. I have 3.5.2 and have had it for a few months now. I see 3.5.4 is out, but I haven’t received anything lately.

this is a 21 Job 1 I believe. I think if they don’t have the updates queued for me, I have my son upgrade it manually…
Thanks in Advance!
They just replace the Axel. Not the rear end.. as for replacing the bolt, if you can extract it, there have been a few reporting that they got it to work. Just make sure the Axel hasn’t started backing out of the hub.
I would agree with the last! Seeing that I have had the issue with both rear axles, and I drive 100% highway mileage. In 60k miles, I have towed a trailer a total of maybe 80 miles. And that was a 1/2 loaded u-hall trailer just recently.
Yeah. They didn’t want to remove the broken bolt on mine, because of the spine damage. They ended up replacing the hub and Axel on mine on drivers side. The passwnger side, they had to replace the Axel because the speed sensor blew apart. The magnet part of the sensor is intograted into the...
I think I would find another dealership ASAP! They are right that you won’t lose you wheel, so it is kinda safe, but the Axel is not held into the hub anymore. It can back out, and what would happen if it fell out of the hub? Destroyed Axel, possible rear end.. and what if it hit the road while...
Agreed. I have had both axels replaced on mine already. The 1st was the drivers side. The passengers side was replaced because speed sensor broke and hit the magnetic ring on the Axel. There is no way to replace that ring, so they had to replace the Axel.
the dealership that my done works at...
report it the the NHTSA. Only way ford will really fix the problem is if enough people report the problem. Seems to be a design problem on the Max Tow 3/4 floating axel only, and when this happens it’s weeks to fix since the part is on back order.
the link for the postings are here:

There are a few listed under Wheels, and some listed under Power Train.
As for a new part. It does not appear to be a new design. So not sure if it was or not...
im on the list already! Last count there are 5 reported with the NHTSA. These are all Max Tow, and doesn’t matter the engine or side. If you have had this problem. Report it and let’s get this taken care of.
Son and his dealership contacted ford and raised the problem with them. The parts showed up yesterday. Ford sent them overnight. Truck is back operational now. They replaced the Axel and hub. So back on the road again. Took 2.5 weeks to get it sorted out.
The Axel I had replaced was the...
Update on progress. Well. Still waiting. Part that showed in stock is on back order with no ETA. If not for my son pushing the issue, I wouldn’t have a loaner, so I’m lucky for that. But, 2+ weeks, no truck. Parts on back order, yet new trucks are still built and shipped. First f150, not...
yes. There is. The max towing has 4 bolts from the back, plus the caliper bolts, where the standard only had the caliper bolts. Look up a few posts and you’ll see pictures of it.
