For that application, I don't know why it would be any different than having the stock hooks in place since - at least in my case - I'm using the stock bolts to hold the receiver to the frame.

Thanks for the sharing the details. FWIW, my XLT PB was made in late Feb and most of the axle, especially the center, looks like it was painted. While I was there, I touched up a few rust-ish spots on the ends, but my axle never looked like the earlier pics I saw.

I've had the thing for 8 days; replaced a 2010 5.4L so easy to beat in the mpg category. Drove a mixed bag of country 2 lane, 65 mph 4-lane, and rural small town stop-and-go. Averaged right at 26 mpg. Insane.
