Does it affect the power tailgate closing (if yours has it)?

This piece of trim just fell of the passenger side rear door, front edge of the B-pillar near the door glass. Was able to snap it back on but it doesn't feel that secure. Both sides (driver and passenger) have a little up/down play in them, and where they sit on the rubber trim from the lower...

Mine was built in July and I bought it on July 31. Here is what my rear axle/differential look like. Any need to worry? I'm generally pretty laid back about these things, and it appears that what I see on the front is very light surface rust, but wanted to get everyone's opinions. TIA

Do you (or does anyone else) know if the weather strips affect the closure of the power tailgate? I'm definitely wanting to get some but I feel it would be tricky to get the seal pressure just right without affecting the tailgate closure.
