Agreed, need a high clamp load to keep the hub from wallowing around on the axle splines under high payload and dynamic loading. IMO, should have been done this way from the beginning, but I suspect this is a much more costly assembly due to more axle shaft material and processing.
It’s old news because they were never repaired correctly, just band aided and this kept the party going. With the load on these axles, a little bit of reduced clamp load from that bolt losing torque will put a lot of stress on the hubs, then bolt flange. The stud and locknut on the new axle...
My new delivery is now trapped in a stop sale. Since they don’t have my money, I expect it will have top priority for a repair, but the axle availability is the issue. They will be swapping door mirrors at same time.

Was to take delivery of it today, buuuut, the notification for the axle recall hit the wire and it’s on a stop sale pending repair. Ugh…
