I am pretty sure that in an EREV, the gas engine / generator is there to charge the battery once it runs low. And the battery then supplies that power to the electric motor(s). What's considered low battery depends on the programming of the BMS. And in many cases the drive mode. For example...
You need enough power for sustained charging under full load, at least close to it. For example when towing a travel trailer up a mountain pass.
Otherwise you risk having to pull over and wait until the battery re-charges with that small engine. Probably not something that Ford would want to see...
I don't think prices have been mentioned, but my guess is $80k and up. Nobody knows though at the moment, probably not even Ford. LOL.
As for the transmission, the answer is no. I don't think an EREV needs a conventional transmission at all.
I connected a OBD2 adapter today and drove to work and back, monitoring the HV battery, and the 12 V also.
On the way there in the morning, my 12V system showed 14.8V all the way. HVAC fan on auto and not really blowing much at all.
On the way back it varied between 14.3-14.5V.
Is that all as...
I honestly don't feel much of a difference at all in terms of driving. Feels better on gravel, which I drive on every day for a few miles. But I guess the reason for that is the off-road tread, rather than sidewall height.
On the road, the tires are slightly more noisy than the OEMs at highway...
I will report back.
One issue with the comparison is that the weather here just recently started to turn colder. Which in itself means some mpg loss. So I don't have solid numbers to compare to, but I will see. The truck has less than 2k miles on the odo currently.
I would expect the weight of...
Dang, you are 100% correct. I have ordered and installed the 433MHz sensors, the ones from your link.
My mistake was that I had copied the text with the part number from your post, as I incorrectly thought it was the same.
I was able to update my post.
Thanks for pointing this out!
Hi All!
I really disliked the 20" wheels that came with the blackout package on my '25 PB, so I went ahead and got 18's:
- Method 305, 18x9, 18mm offset, doubleblack
- Nitto Terra Grappler, 275/70-18, SL load rated (116T)
No level (yet), and per my calculations, I lost 5lbs per corner (80.6lbs...
Here is an update:
I got my new wheels installed by Discount Tire today (will post later in the wheels and tire section).
I had ordered the M-1180-433MHZ TPMS sensors and activation tool, using Ford's black Friday discount and some of my Ford points.
At first, the guys at DT were puzzled. The...
