  1. Canadians buying extended warranty from U.S. dealer

Hi, I realize there are a few threads on the subject of Canadian Ford owners purchasing extended warranties online from a few well-priced U.S. dealers, the catch being the need for a U.S. mailing address (no requirement for residency, as far as I can tell, just an address). My question (that...
  2. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Well, here we are again a year later at -43 C in the Yukon and my 21 Powerboost is a useless brick in my driveway. Thought I'd resurrect this thread to see if anyone else has had the same issue and actually made any headway with Ford recognizing this design flaw in any way? I guess this thread...
  3. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Oh, because this is as far away as I can get from "Florida man". Worth it.
  4. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Yep, "stop safely now" is exactly what I had. I also had a few other non-critical-seeming driver assist type warnings, but I would bet you were locked out for the same reason as me, and if you'd run Forscan at that time would have seen the same code I mentioned in my first post.
  5. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Yes, it is completely unacceptable that Ford would unequivocally volunteer a known -40 limitation to me, yet there is no reference to it anywhere in their own literature, online, or amongst dealers. Did your truck attempt to turnover at that temp, or just nothing? I would love to hear if...
  6. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

It's settled then, I shall build a garage to resolve the situation. Thanks for the help
  7. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

I'm not too familiar with the ins and outs of forscan. Have only used it for diagnosing DTCs this far. But happy to hear about the feasibility of such an idea from anyone more knowledgeable...
  8. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Most of the inhabited Yukon is a fair ways south of the Arctic, but yeah they're becoming more and more common here like anywhere else.
  9. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

I know it's hard to believe in South Carolina, but -40 in Canada is not a huge outlier. Seeing as though this is a technical limit known by Ford, not informing potential customers of it is grossly negligent.
  10. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Interesting, thanks for that. So it does appear to have a sensor within the pack itself. Are you just using Forscan to access these values?
  11. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

I'm not positive that the fault is coming from the coolant temp sensor. From the Ford hybrid/ev rep: "That fault sets when the thermistor internal to the HV battery detects it being below -40." I dunno, maybe it's just semantics and they are in fact talking about the coolant temp sensor.
  12. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Yep, it will literally start at -39 and not at -40...it really does seem like a programmed threshold, judging both from my experience and the response from Ford.
  13. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

It's crossed my mind, though I'd prefer for my very new and expensive truck not to be a guinea pig for such a test...no idea whether it is advisable to be putting heat directly onto the battery pack, not to mention warranty issues. It would be a lot cooler if I could speak to someone at Ford who...
  14. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

As I understand it, the hybrid battery is tucked up somewhere between the muffler and truck bed. Not all that accessible.
  15. Powerboost not designed for use below -40C?!

Hey all, First post here. This was a great resource for researching the purchase of my 21 XLT Powerboost. Now I'm looking for some advice. First, some context: I live in the Yukon, Canada. It gets extremely cold here, obviously. I was hesitant about getting a Powerboost (1st year model, etc)...
