What is the main purpose of the battery blanket? Do these get really hot?

Bumping this as it is directly related to my question. I plan to buy an H8 battery totay to replace my H6 on my 22 tremor 402a. I have seen some people talk about the battery blanket or needing to buy a new one to fit the H8. Is this necessary? Also does the H8 just drop in?

My battery has been constantly low the last 6 months. It always starts but 10 minutes after I shut the truck off, I get the message that features aren't available, so I haven't gotten any OTA's in a long time. Probably a year or more. I'm going to try to get it replaced under warranty otherwise...

If they are needed or not is a personal opinion. I put one on my 22 3.5L and every 5k miles before I change the oil, I empty my catch can and both times since I've installed it, I get a good 1 to 2 ounces of oil in it. I'd rather have it than not.

Wow, that's cool. I have a 22 tremor with these wheels but in the standard dark Grey which I love. Nice to know there is a factory option in black. I was originally going too ask if you got them powder coated or rattle canned or what. Looks great.
