Has anyone had any luck with getting the shudder fixed? Took truck on drive to NC from PA and really noticed the shutter, 8th to 10th gear at highway speed. Took to dealership with a lot of other issues to be fixed. They couldn't replicate it, wasn't impressed. Took shop Foreman for a ride and replicated if for over an half hour. He agreed there was an issue and said he had another 21 F-150 3.5 Eco with exact same issue. "Appeared" shocked and took extensive notes. They are opening case and contacting Ford technical support.

I have 4k on mine and I get a very slight shudder when pulling my boat. It's like if I don't put enough pedal in it that is when I will notice it so I get pissed and smash it to the floor. Easy fix, lol. If anyone hears about an ATF change fixing the issue please post. I am going to fill up with 93 this time and fingers crossed. Is everyone experiencing this with all different engines as well?

My issue started around 500 miles or when I noticed it. Been to the dealer multiple times in the 7000 miles I have had it and they all say its normal. Dealers are completely worthless on these new trucks, if the computer doesn't tell them something is wrong they are too incompetent to determine what is wrong or a fix, they could also be lazy too I guess.

If anyone has found a dealer worth a damn and has come up with a solution make sure you come back and let us know what they did.

Hey Guys!

I just joined so I could reply to this thread!
I purchased my 2021 XLT on June 18th. About a week later I starting feeling the shudder at highway speeds, usually passing someone. It seems like I'm not all the way on the gas when it happens, kind of the halfway point if that makes sense.

Anyway, took it to the dealership and was told that they could feel something was wrong. The shop foreman said he thought it was the transmission. They checked everything they knew to check and it was fine. I was told they were getting Ford involved and that they had asked them to put sensors on the underside of the truck to see where the vibration was coming from.
I let them do this test and had to pick the truck up to go out of town. I came back with 3.5k miles and still a shudder. Ford had received the results for the first test and asked them to do another. This time, they connected to the truck while driving and were able to shut off the torque convertor. The said the shudder immediately went away. They turned it back on and it started again.

I was also having a small problem with a rough idle. The dealership thinks this also might be the torque converter.

They ordered new parts, they have came in, but now I'm being told that they are too busy to say when it would be able to be fixed. Its really upsetting that a brand new truck that costs this much is having these types of problems but I'm glad I'm not alone I guess. I will hopefully be able to get it fixed next week and let yall know if this is the true fix!

You might be a hero to many of us! I will forward this on to my dealer and hopefully this will help them narrow down the problem. I likewise have a rough idle. Will follow up with the group if/when there is a resolution.

Update - I spoke with the shop and they said they have completed the install of the torque convertor. They are now saying that I needed a new front driveshaft. I wasn't aware of this until today. This could also be the cause of the shudder I guess!

I did forward your post to my service advisor and all I got was.. Interesting! Lol lol .. I have also tried 93 octane and still not sure if that is helping.. I am seeing some differences but want to see how it will be with some consistency. Good luck and continue to keep us updated.. You definitely seem to be the one getting at least some action.

So the torque converter didn't help? I am brining mine in Sept 3rd to have a new dealership look at it. So far 2 other dealerships hooked it up to the computer drove a TOTAL of 8 miles between the 2 and said its fine. Really hoping I can forward your info to this new dealership and they will actually lift a finger to see what the issue is.

I haven't had a chance to try it. They just said they had installed it and are waiting on the other piece before its out the door. I was also told that they had made a mistake in saying that I needed a new driveshaft. My service guy said that I need a driveshaft boot.

Well I hoped that I would be coming back with better news. Yesterday I picked my truck up after the new torque convertor was installed. As soon as I got on the freeway I noticed the shudder was still there, but now its accompanied by extremely rough shifting in the higher gears. I parked it at my house and immediately called ford to try and get the buyback started. I can’t keep taking it to the dealership hoping for a fix. All together it’s been in the service department for over 35 days and I can’t accept this on an almost 60k truck. Hopefully they approve the buyback or swap it out for another one. Maybe the torque convertor is the true fix but I’m beginning to think I have a lemon ☹

35 days in the shop regardless of price is ridiculous! I hope they work this out with you

Sucks to hear this but remember the trans has to go through the relearning process again

Dang that sucks will still bring mine in next week to have them look at it. I started the buyback process a couple months ago regarding my Pre-collision assist error they can't fix. Make sure you check with a local lawyer in your area in my area I won't be charged. If I win Ford pays the lawyer if I lose they don't collect anything.

I would rather Ford just take the time to fix my truck, I got a great deal if they do a replacement I lose money, if they do a buyback I lose money all in all just a crappy situation and Ford doesn't give a damn.

What feedback have they given regarding the buyback? How are they handling it?

I picked up a 3.5 ecoboost on 2/28. Has around 300 miles on it. I’m noticing when I’m barely on the throttle and between the 8th and 10th gear there is a shudder in the transmission. Almost like driving over a rumble strip but not as quite pronounced. Is anyone else experiencing this?
They are learning transmissions modules and it takes awhile for it to learn your driving habits and will get better with time so I’m told and the dealership can reset it back to factory default
