Well, now the update from my dealer said it went back to chip hold. Hope these trucks aren't in a flood-prone area. Hope the residents of Michigan are safe and get through this.

Well folks, I bid you adieu. Not because I quit, but because I signed the dotted line. My journey on this thread is over, but I will still be lurking the others. There is a wealth of information on here for us owners.

ordered March 16
Produced may 01
ETA July 22 (after changing a couple times)
Signed paperwork June 25
You got a truck off the lot or your order came in? Were the trackers up to date as far as having built/shipped status change?

How can it be on "Chip Hold"?

All these trucks they're shipping aren't "chipless".

Plus... Renesas said they were back up to 80% two weeks ago and yesterday they said this:

"The start-up of all necessary manufacturing equipment to recover pre-fire production capacity of the N3 Building, which resumed operation on April 17, has been completed. As a result, the production level of the N3 Building has returned to 100% of the pre-fire level as of the evening of June 24. In addition, alternative production is contributing to Renesas’ manufacturing as planned."

My truck isn't even scheduled for production for weeks so "I" have no skin in the game at this point but it still pisses me off when a fellow F150 buyer is getting jerked around.

I know there's nothing we can do... just "venting".

Good luck and I hope your truck shows up out of the blue while you're still waiting for a ship date like so many others have and I hope it happens soon!
They resumed 100% production on the 24th. Today is the 26th. I'm sure it takes more than two days to produce chips and have them arrive at Dearborn to be installed into trucks. Chill out

They may be back to 100% but they don't just supply Ford. There are priority customers and priority products ie the medical industry that will see the chips that they have been waiting on as well, shipped first.

Yeah but they were at 80% 2-weeks ago.
...guess you didn't catch that part.
All I know is they delivered one, and one is built but missing chips. Went to the Jeep/Dodge dealer today to order half doors for my jeep and they have 1 new jeep and 0 new dodge trucks so it isn't just Ford.

Jim Cramer on CNBC said that his source at Ford told him (and I'm paraphrasing) that the shortage for Ford will be a thing of the past by the end of July. Ford should have larger than expected production numbers for the 3rd quarter.

@UNIKRN150 believe normal turnaround is appropriately 6 months. Recall that 6 months ago there was slight discussion about a chip shortage, but it wasn't clear how bad it would be. Now that chips are being made at fully production levels, we'll have to wait a few months before we see that increase in chip production. I think we'll have a better understanding about how much longer this chip shortage is going to last by the end of September/Q3. You're right though, the chip shortage line is getting old when newer orders are being built before older orders. Heck, your truck may arrive before mime and you're not I'm production now. ?

Obviously.
My point is that the "chip shortage" excuse has run it's course.
We can expect the semiconductor industry to be back all caught up on their orders late 2021 into spring 2022, on order placed last year. This ain't over yet. ? I do see movement to secure manufacturing in North America for semiconductor but may a couple years to ramp that up.

Not sure what this means but my dealer just sent me an email saying the Dearborn Plant Flooded.

" I know right! now the plant flooded last night too " is the direct quote in the email.

Seems like 2021 is just one big April 1st. Tired of this year, time to bring on 2022. ?

The chip manufacturers likely don’t just send direct to Ford, there’s a good chance it goes to some other top level supplier who assembled the semiconductor into an actual assembly, which Ford likely then buys from the supplier. Also, orders for things like are typically on lead times of multiple months, it’s not like ordering from Amazon and having it the next day.
Supply chain disruptions are slow moving things. It obviously didn’t affect Ford the day the plant slowed down or had their fire, it was delayed. Returning to normalcy will be the same thing (Or longer) because just getting back to 100% capacity doesn’t give you any ability to make up for everything missed while you were shutdown assuming you were operating at full capacity before.

I just take it one day at a time. Could be worse like in my early 20's when all I could afford was a 72 Monte Carlo that had no reverse lol. I just retired Thursday, I have my Jeep. My wife has her car. My daughter has her new F150 that we picked up Tuesday. My son has a 2015 F150 that will get him through until this new one shows up. Life could always be worse and I am just glad to be in a situation where my biggest worry is if and when this new truck will show up.

@cghall77 You are in this line of business so maybe you know. Just because a factory is running at 80 percent or 100 percent, they just can't crank out chips correct? The silicone wafers that the chips are made from can take months from start to finish right?

Also, as someone else mentioned. Would they not have to go to someone that actually manufactures the modules and then to Ford?

Hey guys, my ETA updated today from 10/31 to 8/13. Ordered on 1/14, build date of 4/1. It's hard to trust this because this also happened in May then it went back to 10/31 again. I would feel better if I saw a shipment date and that it was in transit. Anyone else have this experience and how accurate do you think this is?

2021 Ford F-150 (LARIAT) is estimated to be delivered to dealer in 48 days.
