Howdy! I just bought a 21 PB and am wondering if my trucks updates are stuck? It's been stuck in this screen. VIN: 1FTFW1ED2MFC15862

That update failed in May due to poor battery conditions. Your truck is behind on updates, but it is not stuck. The update will eventually be resent to you. The truck is reporting healthier battery stats now than it was when the update was sent, so hopefully you have better luck next time.

I can look, but why is the truck there to begin with? Knowing the issue(s) will help me to know what to look for.
We had to have it towed twice to separate dealerships as it wouldn’t start/flashing starting button/black dashboard. The first dealership said they couldn’t determine what was wrong and just did software updates and handed the truck back to us. After only about 500km it died again with the same problems and the second shop have now swapped out the battery as it was discharged/changed a relay/and replaced the GWM as apparently it failed?

Thanks Rugedraw, we’re certainly keeping you busy here.

Hi @rugedraw -- can you please look up my VIN (1FTFW1ED8NFA24948) when you get a chance and let me know if you think there is anything worth getting a FDRS license for. I have a 2,500 mile summer trip coming up next month. Thank you.

Remind me tonight when I am home to check in FDRS. Something is wrong and PTS is not showing the IPMA (and possibly more) module. If there is an IPMA update pending, then yes, the $50 will be well spent.

Thank you so much for providing this service!

I have this 21 PowerBoost that is new to me a few days ago. I'm having issues where the adaptive cruise/normal cruise isn't selected when I look in the menu and the speed sign recognition doesn't work unless I enable those features each time I start the truck.
It looks like Sync is 23259 Rev915. Ford lists an update but the system says no update when I check. My Vin is below. Thank you!

Based on what I can see they did, it seems like they did replace the GWM. They have been working on the truck diligently except between 7/10-7/18 where is seems they were possibly waiting for Ford to tell them what to do. The tech working on your truck seems to be competent and has gone through many pin-point tests sorting through issues. I would just be patient and let them do their thing in this case.

The only thing I see that is related to your complaint is this code that your truck is reporting for the cruise control module:

There is no TSB or SSM referenced by the code that will give me a clue as to what the actual problem or fix is. A dealer visit may be warranted.

Just wondering if VIN 1FTFW1E82MKE27820 can be looked up for OTA updates. Have not received one since May 2023 and I am at version 4.0.22177. Thanks in advance!

Yea, Sync 22177 is pretty old at this point. You are showing an APIM update pending as well as many others and your modem seems to be working fine and talking to the cloud. I have no explanation as to why you haven't gotten an update sent in so long. There is nothing wrong with your truck as far as I can see.

Thanks for checking in on this. Been avoiding the dealer for something like this but might have to make the trip. I do have auto updates on and a schedule setup for 1am daily. Not sure if that impacts anything.

It does not. The OTA process is nothing but unpredictable and unreliable. With that said, not getting an update in over a year is longer than normal and your truck is more behind than most. You way want to explore updating it yourself with FDRS if this trend continues.

Hi All, I just picked up a 2021 F150 and believe it's very outdated and stuck in an OTA update hell. I also had a dead battery yesterday, which sounds like it may be an issue caused by out-of-date modules. FWIW, this was a Canadian truck brought back into the US (no clue if it matters?).

VIN: 1FTFW1E59MFB44507

Thank you!

I was stuck where you are with 22177 and found it worth it to buy everything and update myself with FDRS. I'm assuming you can't see rear camera while driving and don't have full screen Android Auto or Carplay. Those were worth it for me.

You can try going to dealer and if you are lucky they will do updates. It will take several hours per update and dealers generally do not get paid anything from Ford to do it.

Yea, you're on Sync 20301. I just added you to the list to borrow one of my Mongooses and I will be happy to keep on there so you can try. However, please note that many have tried to get their trucks out of Sync 20301 and very few have been successful. Even with FDRS, there is a chance it won't happen. You may need FDRS just to create the APIM update on the USB which you would have to leave in the truck for days, weeks or even months before the update will take. There are a few guys on here that have done it and can share their experience with you. Can you turn auto-updates on and off, or is it grayed out? If it is grayed out, then your case will be one of the difficult ones.
